When shadda appears together with a vowel mark (haraka), both are written together on the same letter. The shadda appears below the vowel mark (or the vowel appears above the shadda). The pronunciation doubles the letter then adds the vowel.
Shadda with Each Vowel
Shadda + Fatha — بَّ
Double the letter then release with "a" sound
Hold b → release as "ba" = "bba"
The fatha sits above the shadda. Pronounce: hold the letter, then "a".
Shadda + Kasra — بِّ
Double the letter then release with "i" sound
Hold the letter → release as "bi" = "bbi"
Common in words like رَبِّ (Rabbi — My Lord). The kasra may go below the shadda.
Shadda + Damma — بُّ
Double the letter then release with "u" sound
Hold the letter → release as "bu" = "bbu"
Less common but important. The damma sits above the shadda.
